Default Genocide

On April 24 ,1915, the Armenian Genocide began, 1.5 million Armenians were killed in a 2 year period by the Turks. May their souls rest in peace.

I heard a quote recently from Hitler saying he wasn't about to do anything that hadn't been done before.
I wonder how it comes about when people feel they have to kill so many.
We should always remember that the people who felt the need for genocide were delusional and no saints themselves. How did they come to think they knew what they were doing was right.

the sad thing is, only 22 countries have recognized the genocide, thats the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. If my great grandparents were'nt killed then where are they?

You mean Armenians? Or is this a joke about the state contempary society?

Don't worry, when I saw the advert in the times about this, I thought it said 'American'.

People forget Mao and Stalin. Well Stalin actually made Russia into a super power, but had to kill so many. But I think you need to understand that they're human, just like you and I. Many people just distance themselves from people who have made such decisions, but they don't understand why and can't find any common ground why for such a justification. I am in no way trying to defend genocide, however I think people should try and understand that these decisions are done by people.

The difference between Hitler and Stalin is that Hitler focused on one race. That is why people will always think of Hitler as evil and Stalin as not as evil?
I know a few Armenians and they've tried to spread awareness of the genocide (I've known about it for years). It's terrible how people can be so evil.
I think the Rape of Nanjing and the other subsequent Japanese genocides of Chinese were pretty bad too. At least 330,000 people died in Nanjing alone, due to killing contests, rape contests, all in the name of "fun". And the worst part is Japan doesn't admit it. They say numbers as low as 10,000 and their history books don't go into much detail about that period of history.

Americans are mostly idiots when it comes to history. I look back years ago in High School, and now see how biased the history books we used were. Pathetic...

I'd recommend you watch the documentary "Screamers". It's really shocking, and I believe the genocide should be reckognised. It's a shame that the US will not do that because of strategical reason and politics, not because they don't think it existed.
